The only thing that stays the same is, everything changes.

It's a Saturday, and I rarely blog on Saturdays, but so much is going on in my world, and I haven't had time all week to share, so here I am.  Coffee brewing, sitting at the kitchen table, procrastinating on getting dressed to go run my errands.  I've got to go do car stuff this morning (California smog test, finally change my tags from Connecticut to California - eek), which is always annoying - hence the procrastination.
So back to the lots of things happening here.
The biggest of them personally is that I left my job that I've held for the past almost three years.  This post that I wrote back in January 2010 has been on my mind, and it's been a comfort for me to look back on.  (The new gig I mentioned in that post is the same one I now find myself leaving, in case you wondered.)  Like I felt back in 2010, I am nervous and I am anxious but I am excited.  But the thing that makes this transition different than the 2010 transition is that I was sad yesterday to say farewell.  I know three years isn't long in the grand scheme of things, but on the job front, it's a decent amount of time to stay with a company, and we at that company put our blood, sweat, and tears into traveling the country, doing trade show after trade show.  There were many months I spent as much or more time in hotel beds than in my own bed, all in the name of pushing ahead to do my part in making the company successful.  So it was hard to walk away.
This Monday though, I will start my new gig as the West Coast Sales Manager for an awesome handbag line out of New York, and I am really, really excited about the possibilities!
So cheers to being able to look back fondly on the past, and ahead with anxious eyes to the future.

Oh, and because I left my job, I had to turn in my laptop this week.  So for the first time since 2005, I had to head out to purchase my own laptop!  My brother-in-law is super brainy with computers, but he is in the Middle East on business right now, so I didn't even have him to consult!  I did a little internet research and then put my big girl pants on and headed to Best Buy solo.  I harrassed the salesman for a good 40 minutes, making him explain and compare and contrast the laptops I had narrowed it down to.  At the end of the day, he said the final three were basically all on the same playing field and that each was actually as good as the other, so at the end of the day, I chose the prettiest of those final three :)  I didn't know that Samsung made laptops even, but I do love my new Samsung laptop...it's really sharp looking.  Besides having internet, iTunes, and photo storing capabilties, what else matters, right?  (I am sure computer people are cringing at my blissful ignorance right now.)
A few of my best girlfriends: Me, JBW, EN, and CKL - our Mean Girls 2008 picture.

Taken last night at pre-wedding festivities, I present to you our Mean Girls 2012 photo.

Another exciting happening right now is that one of my best friends is getting married tonight!  EN and I go way back - like to the beginning of my California days.  We worked together for the first time nine years ago, when I was 16 and she was 19.  Then we went on to work with each other on and off for more than six years after that.  Our friendship turned into one of those we're-pretty-much-as-close-as-sisters sort of friendship, where we would tell each other exactly when we were annoyed or upset by the other, but we'd be at the top of each other's list of people we'd call if we needed something.  I headed off to New York for three years, and didn't get to see EN as much as I would have hoped to.  Now that I'm back in LA though, we get to see each other for dinners and girls nights regularly again.  And TODAY Miss EN will become a Mrs., and I can't wait to see how happy and glowing she'll look this evening.  Cheers to you, EN and to a lifetime of happiness with your Mister!

So that may be as much excitement as I can handle pre-9 o'clock.  I'm off to get the errands run and get home quickly so I can get ready for the wedding festivities!

I hope that you all are having a fantastic weekend.
xoxo.

I helped my friend pick out a laptop this past year and after going all around town and comparing specs we both agreed that she should get an awesome Samsung laptop. Congrats and good luck on the big changes in your life!
