A new day, a new beginning.
At the small private Catholic school that I attended throughout elementary and middle school, Sister Alice used to stand at the car line every morning, opening the car doors for children and ushering them into the new day saying, "A new day, a new beginning!" It was a phrase that we as students all came to expect to hear as we stepped out of our parents' cars every morning to begin the day ahead.
And here I am, fifteen years later, about to embark on a new chapter in my professional life, and when I started to type, the first thing to come through my fingers was Sister Alice's trusty phrase. But more than just a good morning greeting, I see it now as inspiration for the day ahead, the week ahead, the journey before us. And to go even further, I see it as advice. Today is a new day, a new start, a fresh point of departure. We've never been before in the place we are now, and we have yet to choose the direction of where we'll stand next.

Holy cow. Totally missed your last post and am catching up. SO proud of you for moving on. I couldn't have had the schedule you had with your last job. I did think of you on Saturday when I saw that line in a store in Newport, RI!

How innovative of Sister Alice to say this! Often teachers get stuck in ruts, carrying grudges for students. What a lovely sentiment Sister Alice had :)
