Things I love.

Happy Friday!  I'm a bit under the weather today, so am just going to share some really cool things around the world wide web (and a few real life things) that have intrigued me lately:

I'm obsessed with my friend JW's wedding.  It was held in the Southern California town of Valencia, north of Los Angeles, and the attention to detail is immaculate.  You have to check out the super sweet felt mustaches!  (photo credit: Stephanie Williams Photography)

Wouldn't you love to escape to this Moroccan resort?  (photo credit: Aman Resorts)

I read this amazing love story about two prisoners at Auschwitz that began a secret romance, and actually escaped by walking out the front gate of the Nazi concentration camp.  The ending of their story is so ironic, you must read it for yourself.  (photo credit: Associated Press)

I'm obsessed with this newly discovered Pomegranate Shampoo by Burt's Bees!  Go figure.   (photo credit: Burt's Bees)

This super exciting giveaway hosted by BagBliss + LODIS for one of LODIS's brand new lambskin Synergy Lysette Handbags.  All you have to do is 'like' Lodis + BagBliss on their Facebook pages, and then comment on Lodis's page saying which of their handbags is your fave.  Make sure you enter!  (photo credit: BagBliss)

I found out that a friend of mine from high school is now serving in the Peace Corps and living in Cameroon (Western Africa)...and she has a blog that is certainly an interesting read! (photo credit: Google Images)

The new Absolut city series is so fun!  I tried the Absolut Boston (black tea infused vodka - it was great with Acai juice!) while visiting my family in Beantown, and I've heard of Absolut Brooklyn: a red apple + ginger flavor.  I don't really dig ginger, so I'm not sure that I'll be testing that one!  I'd like to know though: why Absolut Brooklyn and not Absolut Manhattan??  (photo credit: Google Images)

Finally, I am lusting over these amazing geo-rings by Brazilian jewelry designer Marcia Moran (rings + photos found at lunaboston)!

I hope that you all have a fantastic weekend!  Do you have any great plans?  I'm probably going to end up sleeping for a good portion of the time, trying to fight this summery sickness I've got going on.

Lacey,

So sorry to hear you're under the weather. Rest up and maybe have a little Absolut? oops!

Thanks so much for the excellent leads here. I'm going to check out the blogs and the stories. I have to peep those rings at Luna Boston, too - they look beautiful.

Have a great weekend and take care!

xoxo,
Carrie

I think I can clear up the Manhattan question for you. There is already a drink called a Manhattan and it doesn't contain vodka, which would pose quite the problem for Absolut. If you just really want to drink something by the name though, make yourself a martini but use a whiskey (I prefer a single-malt scotch) instead of gin, add bitters and garnish with a cherry instead of an olive. Serve straight up or on the rocks and repeat until you no longer feel under the weather. *FUN FACT! The Manhattan was the drink of choice for Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack.
