22 July 2010

I have some kick-ass friends.

I generally strive to keep company with pretty cool people, and I must say that my friends tend to be sassy, savvy, silly, and sweet, all rolled into one.

The last two weeks have certainly made me so proud of two of my girls, and I can't help but gush over them.

One, Miss KA, who I wish I'd been able to see more frequently during her time here in New York, just  moved to China.  Yes, ChinaWhy, you ask?  That's what I said.

It all happened so suddenly:  I emailed her to ask if she was still seeing the two main men in her life that were completely robbing her of friend time (Gym, and Mat...as in 'Yoga Mat' - ha, a joke, hope you got that), and she wrote back that she could neither confirm nor deny a dinner date for the following Wednesday because of top-secret and not-safe-for-work-email life situations.  Um, my curiosity flag was obviously raised at this point.  What the heck was she talking about?

Finally, she filled me in:  She had decided to make a major life change, and she was moving to China to teach English in the city of Hangzhou, an hour south of Shanghai.  I couldn't have been more proud to hear this news and know someone with such guts and drive.  So instead of grabbing dinner Wednesday night, we gathered with her nearest and dearest at a bar in Union Square to toast her super exciting new adventure and her bittersweet departure from the Big Apple!

Miss KA, being her sassy self.

I have asked KA to participate in my first blog interview, so stay tuned to hear it all directly from her!

Secondly, I would like to be the first to announce to you all that KF - one of my best LA girls, who also happened to be my roommate in LA, who also happened to be from the same South Carolina hometown of Greenville as me (we didn't meet til we both lived in LA though - crazy!) - has been booked for Broadway's "In the Heights"!!!!!  I. am. so. proud.

Not that I had anything to do with her being an amazing dancer and a phenomenal singer and just a wonderful person all-around, but I'm still exuding pride to be able to say "hey, that's my friend"!!!

Next month, KF is making the cross-country move once again, will be pit-stopping in South Carolina for some family time, and then heading up here to New York mid-August.  She'll be doing one month of rehearsing here before she sets off for a year for the National Tour of the show.
KF being gorgeous at one of her recent photo shoots.

Once the tour dates for the show are posted, I will obviously make sure to let you all know, because you know that I'm rooting for you guys to buy tickets to see it when it hits your hometown!!

Cheers to my girls, KF + KA for being such the example of the type of person I continuously strive to be:  successful, courageous, and someone that chases happiness for all its worth.

I couldn't be more proud to have you guys to brag about!!
