Cheers to Tracey + Joe.

Let me tell you a little bit about Tracey and Joe.

Rewinding to 2011, when Whatever-that-guy's-name-was-that-I-used-to-date (also known as He-whose-name-we-do-not-speak) and I moved into our new apartment together in Connecticut, I was lucky as all hell that we moved into apartment 309, which was directly next door to apartment 307, where Tracey and Joe lived.

Tracey and I both had jobs that saw us working from the comfort of our apartments most days, and we became fast friends.  A knock on one of our doors at 10 am or at 230 pm for a neighborly visit in the midst of our workday was a welcome reprieve from clicking away on our laptops.  We even called ourselves coworkers after a while, because we were sometimes the only other person we'd each see during a typical work day. Tracey, Joe, and I shared fun dinners, outings around our town of Stamford, lots and lots of great chatter, and we even bunkered down and braved Hurricane Irene together.

And when my personal life became tumultuous (remember this post?) right around Thanksgiving of 2011, Tracey and Joe swooped in as the only face-to-face cheerleaders I had living in Connecticut.  And when it became clear that my move back to California would need to be bumped up from a January move date to an I-am-moving-this-weekend move date, Tracey and Joe helped me pack all of my belongings in a mere 48 hours and loaded my SUV with everything I would take with me.  (Remember how I had a broken elbow at that point in time?  So it's not an exaggeration when I say that Tracey and Joe effectively saved my world that weekend.)

Stepping back to today.  Tracey and Joe have been residing in Chicago since this past summer, and as of three days ago, these two amazing folks are officially engaged to be married!  I couldn't be happier that two people of their incredible caliber found each other and are so happy together.

To kickoff their engagement, I was giddy to hear that they would be rendezvous'ing to LA for a weekend of celebrations!  Which obviously meant that I got to see them last night for a few hours and a couple cocktails and for a well overdue catch up sesh.  Sitting across from them, I seriously just felt so lucky that I've been able to make such great friends in my life so far.

So cheers to Tracey and Joe, to their fabulous engagement news(!), and to friendships that span the miles.

xoxox, to you both.
