Macklemore.

I tweeted the other day that my top pop culture obsessions of 2012 are Cory Booker and Macklemore.

If you're my friend in real life or on Facebook, you've known of my adoration for Mayor Booker for a few years now.  If you aren't familiar with him, google him asap.  I would not be surprised in the least if we one day call him President Booker.  Actually, I'd jump up and down telling you that I told you so :)

Moving on, Macklemore is my other official fave of 2012.

Actually, I came across his work when reading one of my fave new blogs, Manhattan Nest, who posted this killer song:

Again, if you're my friend in real life (or on Facebook), you know I'm extremely Pro-Gay Human Rights and so I obviously loved this song.

So I spotify'ed Macklemore, listened to a few more of his politically and socially charged songs, and was hooked.  It just so happens that a few weeks ago, Macklemore hit the charts with his "Thrift Shop" song as well, which also has a great beat.

Had you heard of Macklemore before you heard "Thrift Shop" on the radio?  Are you a fan?

Note:  If you sample his music, just a warning that most of his songs have explicit lyrics, and many of his messages are socially charged (which I love) and tend to steer quite to the left.  Just a forewarning :)

This album has been on repeat on my ipod for a few weeks. I pretty much his whole album " The Heist"!
Funny I sent this song to my gay BFF & told him he should check it out. :)

What a beautiful song. Thank you for sharing!

"There is no freedom until we are equal" - what a powerful line!
