Check out the above images. The left is Manhattan as we all know and love it. The right is what the island probably looked like in the 1600s, when it was still called New Amsterdam and was appraised to be worth only a handful of beads and trinkets - probably the most underestimated real estate deal in history.
Pretty unreal what 400 years can do, isn't it?

Ummm...amazing and kind of sad...the Native Americans made $27 on the deal.
I wonder what the next 400 years will bring ... crazy photos!

ps - there's the canals in venice beach that you have to drive into to find. these are in naples just north of seal beach. lacey. dude. the neighborhood is incredible. like balboa (in newport), but much quieter and calmer and with canals. i love walking in there!! you must visit!
wow how amazing is that x
Wow, where did the extra land width come from? I've never been to Manhattan, or New York, for that matter. I love looking at now and then photos. I wonder what a photo of this same place taken 400 years from now would look like. Sadly, I think there will probably be a lot more water in the picture by then. :( - G
This is insane. I wonder how it will look in 400 years from now...
