That's not my name.

After weeks of corresponding with the biggest payroll company in the country regarding their royal eff up of my W2 reportings (they reported that I lived in New York, Connecticut, and California in 2012, when I only lived in California), the representative assigned to my case still, after this many messages back and forth, is addressing me as Lacy.

First of all, I have yet in my almost 26 years to ever meet another Lacey who spells her name sans the "e".

Second of all, my first name is spelled out in my email address, as well as in my signature.  L A C E Y.

In all of fourteen emails that I have received from the representative, Lora (with an "o"), she has not once managed to spell my name correctly.  And considering that 99% of our email correspondence thus far has been us arguing back and forth about how No, I cannot just file my W2's as is, as that would be tax fraud, I cannot figure out if she is just dumb, or if she is misspelling my name on purpose just to annoy the heck out of me because she is peeved that I am making her work harder than usual.

So tonight, I decided to just be as nice as I could be with my email reply to her.  And maybe play a little dumb myself.

Hi Lara,
Thank you so much for all of your help!  Please keep me posted.
All the best,
Lacey

If these are the meanest types of things that I do, I think I still have a chance at not going to hell.

This is amazing! Haha. I hate when people do this! I've had my name spelled Pennie instead of Penny too many damn times- especially so because my email clearly states my entire name. It drive me insane- especially because I rarely see the name spelled as "ie."

And you also can't file it for various other reasons-you would have had to pay tax to the other two states, in which you haven't. So it would make it so you'd have to pay IN probably. And, it would cost you more to file in other states (if you have someone else do it-not sure if you do or not).

If it makes you feel any better, a colleague of mine who I regularly have meetings and correspondence with, still, after 2 years, spells my name Nichole. Really???

Sorry girl you have to go through this. Then again, I think you handled yourself quite perfectly. I think I would have done the same. :)

Fingers crossed she gets the hint.

Girl I feel you! My name is Sara - no h. There is no h in my blog title, email, facebook name, twitter handle... and yet, I continue to get correspondence to Sarah, and sometimes to Sarah Louise. AARRGGHH!!!! It's the bane of my existence.
