TED

Have you guys heard of the TED conferences?  Someone recently introduced me to TED, and I previously had never even heard of it.  It's a pretty amazing thing.  This is the description of what TED is, per it's own website:

TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences -- the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Edinburgh UK each summer -- TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Project and TED Conversations, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize.

Basically, the people who are invited to speak at the TED conferences are considered to be the most knowledgeable in their fields - medicine, arts, finance, humanities - and they give a short talk on what they consider to be the most important aspects of their work that need to be shared with the world.  Ted.com allows you to view and listen to these talks online.  It's a pretty amazing concept, and I just had to share it with you guys!

I am OBSESSED with TED. Three years ago I find a video, "Schools Killing Creativity" by Sir Ken Robinson. Fell immediately in love with his TED talk, and then watched as many as I could get my hands on. I recommend Elizabeth Gilbert, Sarah Kay (AMAZING spoken word poet)of course Sir Ken, and also Chimamanda Adichie, who talks about the danger of the "single story". I used to use these videos when I was teaching advanced seniors and IB freshman - such profound and innovative thought in 18 minutes!!

You know, this post just proves that we are connected by the powers that be. Total friend soul mates. :)

I hope you are feeling better my love! Missing you and thinking of you all the time! Get well hun!
