Spotlight: Budapest

Monday mornings always have me running a little slower, taking a little extra time getting out of bed, and usually require just that much more morning caffeine than usual.

For a little Monday morning inspiration, I thought that I would share a few images of a cityscape that I love.

I visited Budapest a few years ago and was amazed by how beautiful it was.  I really didn't know what to expect from a city that had within my lifetime become separated from the Eastern Bloc, but I was met with such warm people, gorgeous landscape, and beautiful architecture.

The city is bisected by the River Danube.  The hilly side of the river is called Buda, and the flat land on the other side of the Danube is called Pest - coming together to form Budapest.  There are currently ten bridges that link Buda and Pest, and they are all lit up beautifully at night.  When I visited with my family, we took an evening dinner cruise on the river, and got to see all of the fantastic buildings light up as the sun went down that night.

One of the great cities of Europe that I haven't been to yet but would love to visit is Prague.  Have any of you ever been?  I've heard such wonderful things, and I can't wait to make it part of my next European vacation.

Some shots of Prague that I found:

What have been your favorite vacation spots thus far?  Are there any amazing cities that you've been to that I should know about??  Please share!

What a wonderful experience to see Budapest! I would have to say some of my favorite vacation spots have been Hawaii and Paris.

Paris had some amazing things to see, but it was the desserts and food that were truly works of art--I'm not kidding! And Hawaii--it's so difficult to choose just one location--but watching the erupting volcano lava flowing through the rain forest to drop into the ocean below was a memorable sight!
