Rain, rain, go away.

The city has been blessed with some seriously gorgeous weather over the past five to six days...  Considering that the day after my birthday (about two and a half weeks ago), we were hit with our most recent blizzard, it's pretty incredible that last weekend was spent basking in 60something degree weather and dining and drinking on restaurant patios that magically come to life once Spring starts springing.

Looks like we got excited just a little too soon though, because I woke up this morning, opened my eyes to the window in my apartment, and....gloom.  I can't technically see the sky out my window unless I get right up to it and look upward, but I could tell from the lack of streaming sunlight that I'd become accustomed to throughout the week that we were in for some not so beautiful weather.  I checked the weather forecast for the day, and yup...  Rain.  For the next four days.  Gross.

This is what I feel like my city looks like right now.

I've said it multiple times:  I can handle the seasons and the temperatures (from negative something in the winter to 100something, plus humidity, in the summer), in fact, I rather appreciate that variation.  It makes me look forward to the personality and wardrobe of the next season to come.  However, the precipitation is something that I could surely do without.  Rain, snow, sleet, hail, this thing they refer to as a "wintery mix"...  Ugh.

I leave a week from today to spend a weekend in LA with my family (more on that later), and I am looking forward to some dry air and sunshine...  I love my New York life, but having a dose of West Coast Fabulousness (i.e., sunshine, family, ocean air) every once in a while certainly doesn't hurt.
